Magento, the most preferred eCommerce application, is known to provide different payment and shipping methods. It is not very difficult to set up payment methods in this platform.
However, you need to be careful when configuring your payment and shipping in Magento, as it is an important part when configuring your online store. Magento allows us to accept payments using different payment processors like Paypal or Authorize.net, among others. Users of eCommerce stores can also pay through Master Card, Visa Card, American Express and others.
In this article I’m going to show you how to configure Payment and Shipping methods in Magento.
How to configure Payments method:
Login to your Magento admin area and go to:
System > Configuration -> Sales -> Payment Methods
In this tutorial, I will enable the credit card payment method. This method is configured through the Saved CC section.
In the image above you can see many options. You need to select Yes from Enable methods and select title as per your requirement and set the new order status. Next, pick Credit Card types, and you can select Card Validation with “3D Secure Card Validation”. You can also select countries where you want to accept payments from, along with the range of accepted payments.
That’s it, you have enabled this payment method for your customers.
After configuring the payments method, you need to configure the shipping method.
How to configure Shipping method on your online Store:
For configuring Magento shipping methods, you first need to configure the shipping settings. To enable these, login to your admin area and go to System -> Configuration -> Sales ->Shipping Settings.
In Shipping settings, you will be seeing two sections: Origin and Options.
Origin: In this section, you need to insert the default address of your store which you will be sending to your customers.
Option: In this section, you can allow shipping to multiple addresses.
When you are done with the shipping settings, go to the Magento shipping methods by enabling them from System -> Configuration -> Sales ->Shipping Methods.
In the image above, you can see many shipping options. You can select any of the given options based upon your requirements. For this tutorial, I am selecting UPS.
Now you need to enable the shipping method. To do this, just enter the Gateway URL and the UserID. The following options permit you to describe the packages which should be delivered at the mentioned addresses.
At this point, you can define the handling fee, which can be settled or calculated on a percent basis. Once you have set the handling fees, you can pick the allowed delivery methods. Additionally, you can configure a free shipping method and define whether there is a base buy for it.
In the end, you can define countries where shipping is supported and the default error message if shipping is refused.
This is an easy to follow tutorial that will help you configure your payment and shipping method in your Magento store. Let us know how it works for you!
