“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Rob Siltanen
Vision of future, dreams, persistence and inability to surrender to life’s hardship are continuously shaping the entire world. I have always been impressed by those rare breeds who never gave up on their dream and who despite the massive amount of NO’s received and closed doors slammed in their face kept moving forward.
Either spiritual leaders, painters, scientists, humanitarians or visionaries, they all knew there is something more for them to do and used their gifts and calling for growth. Their legacy to the world is in progress, innovation and most important, inspiration. Ultimately they show you that it is possible, YOU CAN DO IT!
One of these people who inspire is Steve Jobs, the so called hippie behind all the glamorous concept of technology we have today. Moving past the financial achievements more important is the road that let his vision shape the technology as we know it today. All he was and all he did for us is so well enclosed in Walter Isaacson’s words:
“creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.”
He had a dream to create something innovative and a way of breaking conventional rules for achieving his dream. After dropping out of college he started pursuing the things that he was really passionate about, leaving all the noise behind him. He was brave and reckless and unrelenting. Following his achievements, others have found a world of possibilities in the web of tech. And we still have to see about future growth and expansion.
I wonder if he ever imagined about how far his progress would reach. And if he wouldn’t have dropped out of college or if he wouldn’t have been removed from his first company would we have the computers, phones, music as we know them today? In the end I believe that all of the challenges he went through were just there to point him in the right direction, setting his course for better.
His life accomplishments are a great statement to why we should pursue our dream, find our calling, never stop searching for more. It may not make sense today, or tomorrow but one day it will. “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.” – Steve Jobs
What is your gift? What is your calling? Finding the answer to these questions is what will give purpose to your life. You should never settle to just go along with the flow. Be a better you knowing that every choice you make impacts the world and lives of people around you.
